Come and enjoy a week painting with me in the stunning mountainous landscape around the village of Relleu in the Valencia region of Spain. Relleu is an unspoilt mountain village, surrounded by olive and almond groves. Our accomodation is the Almassera Vella, a lovely village house built on the site of Relleu’s original olive press (the remains of which are still in situ in the living room!) There is plenty to paint from the gardens of the house itself, from the terraces of olive and orange groves that it overlooks, and in the nearby village. Each day we’ll go out to paint and I’ll demonstrate techniques and give you individual instruction to help you improve your painting skills.
The Almassera Villa is owned and run by Christopher and Marisa North, and is featured in Alastair Sawday’s ‘Spain - Special Places to Stay 2005’. Christopher is himself a published and prizewinning poet.
Accomodation: There are four spacious bedrooms in the Almassera Vella, two are ensuite and two share a separate bathroom. There is a large day-room, a deep loggia, a gallery 3000 book library, a refectory seating 14, a meeting place with log fire beside the conserved old olive mill and an extensive rear terrace with swimming pool and almond orchard. Just over the road from this is the Annexe with further excellent accomodation.
The delicious home cooked meals are decidedly Spanish in flavour, and mid week we will enjoy a paella in a small restaurant in a nearby village.
