watercolour painting
part 2

 Starting from Scratch

Welcome to Part 2

How did you get on with Part 1? Have you bought your materials and are you ready to paint? Then let’s go!
If you do have any problems with downloading stuff, or printing it off, or working through the actual art exercises, then please e-mail me and I’ll try and help, or visit the forum and ask others who are on the course.

Please listen to the audio track which gives you an introduction to this issue and the best way of working through this issue’s material. The video clip shows how to make brush marks and how to lay down a wash of paint.

This lesson and Parts 3 (using tonal values) and 4 (mixing colour) cover the very basics of painting in watercolours. From Part 5 onwards the course covers a whole series of topics within each issue.

Go to Part 3 from the link at the bottom of this page when you have worked through the exercises and projects in this lesson.

You can access Part 1 of the course from the ‘Previous lessons’ link at the bottom of this page.
